Sport Premium

We believe that participation in Sports is vital to physical and mental wellbeing.  This means that we have a strong commitment to high quality PE, extra curricular activities, and opportunities for all.  We are proud to have won a number of awards in recognition of our work.

We were the runner up for the 2025 Educate Awards Outstanding Commitment to Sport in a Primary School.  The judges stated that:

"Sport is stitched into the fabric of Cherry Tree Primary School, not just as a subject, but as a driver of wellbeing, inclusion, and aspiration.

From fencing to forest school and horse riding to half-time dance performances, the school’s offer is as diverse as it is inclusive. With 88 per cent of pupils accessing extracurricular sport or competition, and 80 per cent of pupils with SEND participating too, every child is given the chance to thrive.

Barriers like transport are tackled head-on, with minibuses and trained staff ensuring no child is left behind."

We also won the Key PE School of the Year for Sports.

We are the holders of a Platinum School games mark award, which is only available after 3 consecutive years of the highest quality offer.
